Cylinder

  1.  First open the door and locate the fixing screw on the edge of the door in line with the cylinder
  2. Remove the screw and slide the cylinder out
  3. Using the image below; measure from the centre of the fixing screw hole to each end of cylinder to determine the two required dimensions
  4. In the example if A measures 55mm and B measures 40mm you require a 55/40 cylinder
  5. Be aware that the measurement that comes second is the external facing part of the cylinder.

These measurements ensure the cylinder will sit centrally within the door and operate smoothly. Always measure both sides, as PVC doors are often offset, and avoid measuring the overall length alone to ensure an accurate fit.

Window Handle

  1. Remove the handle by unscrewing the two fixing screws and pull the handle straight out of the window
  2. Measure the spindle length (in diagram below it is 50mm) from the underside of the handle base to the end of the spindle.
  3. Most handles have a 7mm square spindle size, it is worth checking this as you may need a different spindle if it is not 7/8mm on the square face
  4. Measure the distance from the centre of one screw hole to the centre of the other. This is usually 43mm for most handles. It is worth checking to ensure the new handle covers the old screw holes.
  5. Check handle direction and correctly order if you need a Left or Right. Look at the handle when it is closed. If it points left then you require a left handle and vise versa.

Door Handle
  1. Measure from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the keyhole (or cylinder)- The example below is 92mm and the most common size.
  2. Next, measure the full length of the handle backplate to ensure your replacement will cover your current screw holes. The example below is 243mm
  3. Measure the screw hole centres by finding the distance between the two screw holes which is shown below as a distance of 210mm
  4. You will also need to check the spindle length (as you also would with a window handle) to ensure it correctly engages the door locks. Spindles can be cut down if needed.
  5. Check you are ordering the correct handing. Stand on the inside facing the closed door. If the handle points left then you require a left.

Cat Flaps
  1. Firstly measure your cat by measuring from the floor to the highest point of their body. Once you have the height measure the widest part of the cat
  2. Measure your door thickness. It is vital the flap tunnel fits in the door
  3. Once you are happy with the door thickness ensure your new cat flap opening is large enough for your cat
  4. Lastly, check the hole size in your panel or glass to ensure the overall width/height (or diameter) covers the hole.
